Thames Audio invest in EM Acoustics Print
Friday, 13 November 2009

Shepperton based Rental Company, Thames Audio have recently increased their stock of EM Acoustics EMS Series loudspeakers.  The purchase, which includes eighteen EMS-122’s and eighteen EMS-61’s, are to be put to immediate use on various theatre, broadcast and corporate projects.

As Thames’ Technical Director, Graham Simpson explained, “For quite some time we have been on the look out for a multi purpose, passive, 12” and horn loudspeaker that can reproduce the sonic qualities that our clients have grown to expect.  After trying out products from various manufacturers, we were most impressed by the detail and transparency of EM Acoustics’ EMS-121, but of course that is a dedicated front of house speaker.  However, following a discussion with the guys at EM we were really pleased when they came back to us with the EMS-122. Its performance exceeds everything that we’ve come to expect from EM but also its versatility as both a front of house speaker and a monitor wedge makes it a really useful addition to our inventory.”

EM Acoustics’ Operations Director Mike Wheeler adds, “The EMS-121 has been a faithful workhorse loudspeaker for around five years now, and we had been discussing internally for some time about developing a successor to it to compliment the other new loudspeakers in the range.  When Thames Audio approached us with regards alternatives to the EMS-121, it was the ideal time for us to bring the EMS-122 into reality.  This is also the way we like working with new products – working with a client to produce exactly what they are looking for.  We are very pleased where the relationship has gone so far, and we look forward to it continuing for many years to come.”

Thames’ theatre projects are already benefiting from the purchase, with the UK Tour of ‘Fascinating AIDA’ utilising EMS-122’s out front with EMS-61’s as monitors and fills.  Meanwhile, ‘Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story’, has adopted a set of EMS-61’s for its varied monitor requirements.  The compact design of the EMS Series has also proved advantageous on a number of corporate and broadcast projects including temporary installations for Emporio Armani and BBC – Culture Show.
