Surrey-based professional loudspeaker manufacturer EM Acoustics reveals new products that will be shown at the ProLight & Sound show in Frankfurt in March.

Alongside the complete EM Acoustics product range, including the awe-inspiring Quake subwoofer, EM will showcase the new DA-1 amplifier module, scheduled to ship in May 2007. The DA-1 is a class-T, DSP-driven amplifier module, capable of delivering over 2000W RMS from each of its two channels.  Unique to the DA-1 is the “one module fits all” concept that allows users to swap a DA-1 module between Quake subwoofers, EMS-152 fullrange enclosures, and EMS-215 or i-12 subwoofers, simply by recalling a new memory from the on-board DSP.  The unit ships with presets loaded for the current EM Acoustics product range, and through the supplied software users can create their own presets for their products.  Remote network control and monitoring software is also planned for release, as the hardware is ready to work with it.

Mike Mann from EM Acoustics’ UK distributor comments “Finally a unique approach to self-powered loudspeakers.  Until now, it has always been a choice that a rental company has to make from the word go, unless they are planning a complete inventory overhaul.  Being as the DA-1 can be purchased separately, and retro-fitted into existing products, that decision does not have to be made until the kit is being prepped for that day’s show.”

Also on show will be an update to a well-established and long standing product, the M-12 monitor.  EM’s design team have been hard at work updating what was already regarded as an excellent passive floor monitor, and are thrilled with the results.  EM’s Mike Wheeler adds “We listened to a lot of comments from users over the two years since the M-12 was released.  What we’ve done is updated the LF drive unit and internal circuitry to add more power handling and to improve the frequency response.  It’s also now supplied active/passive switchable as standard, with a toughened grille.  The responses we’ve had from those who’ve been using them in the beta stage have been overwhelming”.

EM Acoustics’ product line can be found at Frankfurt on stand A42 in Hall 8.0, with their German distributor EAS GmbH.
