Description
The EMS-122 is EM Acoustics' successor to the ever-popular EMS-121. The EMS-121 was released in 2003, and as such our crossover topologies have come much farther, so we took the oppurtunity to develop a new product including all-neodymium drive units, the latest crossover technologies and more flexible enclosure & rigging design. We also chose to increase the output capability of the product, by using the a high frequency drive unit derived from the mighty CDU-2001 4" diaphragm, 2" exit compression driver used in the EMS-152. Simple and elegantThe EMS-122 is a passive enclosure, and unlike all of its main competitor products requires no controller or active processing. At EM Acoustics we believe it is possible to build passive loudspeakers without compromising sonic quality. Extensive crossover R&D has led to an enclosure that is remarkably free of the time-smearing often associated with passive enclosures, resulting in a very natural frequency response and a stunning performance normally only associated with actively-driven loudspeakers. ConstructionThe CNC-machined enclosure is manufactured from 15mm (5/8") multi-laminate Finnish birch ply, rebated, screwed & glued together for maximum strength. Standard features and riggingInclude four M10 exposed-thread rigging points for suspension (either via forged shoulder eyebolts or using the optional EMS-122 flying hardware), a single M8 exposed-thread point on the rear for pull-back or safety point attachment, four M8 internal suspension points for installation hardware, and dual Neutrik Speakon™ NL4 connectors. The enclosure shape allows for use as a floor monitor if required, and is finished in black semi-matt textured paint (colours optional) and the front is protected by a hex-punched steel grille, backed with acoustically-transparent black foam. |
